A motivated Chippa United eyeing win against Stellenbosh FC

The Chippa United camp is upbeat following their first win this year. This was fueled by Morgan Mammila’s boys’ good results last weekend, when they beat Maritzburg United by one goal in a tough match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.

Chippa United’s three points put them in seventh place, just inside the top 8. They were there before, but they pulled away when they went winless in seven games. Last week, however, they broke the streak against the Team of Choice. Chippa United will use the strength it gained against Stellenbosch FC in a tough game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.

As the season progresses, Mammila will fight for Chippa United to remain in the top 8, rather than fighting to avoid relegation, as it has done in the past. It will be difficult to defeat Stellenbosch, who are also motivated after defeating Cape Town City 3-2 in the Cape Town derby last week. After stumbling in a number of games prior to last week’s win, Steve Barker will head to Gqeberha hoping for another full point. It is critical for Chippa to win on their home turf and in front of their fans.

Although the Eastern Cape team is performing well, Mammila will place his faith in Etiosa Ighodaro, his forward, who has already scored seven goals in 14 games in his first season in South Africa. Both teams enter the game hoping to win. This is what will make the game very appealing to both teams’ fans. A victory could propel Stellenbosch to a good position in the DStv Premiership. All of the teams are fighting for survival or a spot in the top 8 because Mamelodi Sundowns have lightened their load by amassing more than 50 points this season, while the rest are chasing 30.
