This week’s Nedbank Cup pits top division teams against teams from lower divisions. This competition is hugely popular since it allows clubs from the Motsepe League and Motsepe Foundation Championship a great chance to compete against DStv Premiership teams. On Sunday at 3pm, at Mbombela Stadium, football fans in the Eastern Cape province may witness their team, Amavarara, play against TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup encounter. Amavarara compete at a lower division, but they promise to fight valiantly.
TS Galaxy previously won the Nedbank Cup, but this is a new year, and they must be committed if they want to advance. Ayaduma Penxe promised to battle the TS Galaxy team, who will be playing at home. Penxe told this newspaper, “Our preparations are still moving forward nicely.” The Mpumalanga team would undoubtedly want to defeat Amavarara because they have been underwhelming in the DStv Premiership games. “We are attending a major game. The guys are anxious, but that’s to be expected. We don’t know what to expect from the Nedbank Cup match,” said Penxe.
It is advantageous for the teams to compete to advance in the Nedbank Cup. “Having participated in this competition in prior years will help us since we are aware of what it’s like to lose games like the one, we will be attending this weekend. We are aware that TS Galaxy’s style of play is different than what we are accustomed to in the ABC Motsepe League.
“We have young people with experience assisting us. We are not scared. Why should we be afraid of people? What is important is what will happen on the field during those 90 minutes. We are not afraid of TS Galaxy, but we are aware that they are dangerous,” Amavarara’s manager stated prior to the team’s departure this week.
