Another drowning incident in East London

A 38-year-old fisherman drowned and died in East London while fishing. The fisherman was fishing at Cocobana Beach in the West Bank at around 7 o’clock in the morning on Monday when he was swept away by the waves.

Emergency Rescue Services, including police and fightfighters in Buffalo City Metropolitan, found the fisherman dead with injuries to his ribs.

This fisherman’s drowning incident was the second incident in just few weeks.

The report says that in Nahoon beach within two weeks, sea rescuers rescued a drowning person, while a 28-year-old man was lost in the water.

The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality warns the public that when swimming, they should swim near the flags and follow the lifeguards’ rules.

Teachers have also been urged to supervise students when they are swimming as it is the season for children’s school tours.

Fishermen have been instructed that when the current is strong, they should not fish by force.
