Even though Kaizer Chiefs’ season is not going well, there is still a glimmer of hope that they may win a trophy.

A trophy drought of eight years has put Chiefs under strain. Chiefs will probably step it up when they play Royal AM in the Nedbank Cup game on Sunday at 6pm at Chatsworth Stadium.

This is their final opportunity to appease irate fans who have grown accustomed to the drought in Naturena.

After a one-goal tie with Marumo Gallants in the game at FNB Stadium last week, Amakhosi, who are struggling under Arthur Zwane, might lose out on second place in the DStv Premiership.

Zwane is aware of the significance of Chiefs’ successful Nedbank Cup performances, despite the fact that it is a difficult situation. Winning the cup would enhance Zwane’s reputation as a rookie coach and inspire his players as they get ready to get better the next season. Amakhosi’s coach says he intends to win and advance to the Nedbank Cup’s next round despite the team losing important players to injuries.

“Players on our team are out with injuries. This is how football works, so we are not complaining about it. We are looking forward to the game, and it’s critical that we win to advance to the next round of the Nedbank Cup,” Zwane recently stated.

Since Royal AM is now coached by John Maduka, they have improved, making it extremely difficult to play with them. MaMkhize’s team defeated the fearsome Stellenbosch FC by a score of 3-1 last week. Their two-goal loss to Chiefs in the DStv Premiership match will also serve as motivation for them going into this game. Without a doubt, Royal AM will try to return with the win from this weekend’s match.

Chiefs must do better than they did the previous week. Other matches: At 3pm, the dangerous Dondol Stars take on Orlando Pirates. At 6pm on Saturday, Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch will square off in a tense game at Athlone Stadium. Chippa United hosts Sekhukhune at 3pm on Sunday in Gqeberha.
