Chippa United and Richards Bay are fighting to climb the log

Morgan Mammila’s team, Chippa United, will go into the next game limping after being beaten in their previous game. On Tuesday evening this week, Chippa was beaten by Cape Town City by 2-1 in the DStv Premiership match held at the Cape Town Stadium.

The Eastern Cape team went into the game motivated after winning four games in a row. It netted the first goal in the game scored by Ronaldo Maarman after a skilfully placed ball by Siphelelo Luthuli in the 30th minute of the first half of the game.

Cape Town City came back strongly in the second half with two goals scored by Thamsanqa Mkhize and Khanyiso Mayo. Three points would have put Chippa United in third place.

The defeat means that Mammila needs to encourage his boys to be ready for the next important game. There is no time to rest because Chippa must prepare to meet Richards Bay in the DStv Premiership game which will be at 3pm on Sunday, at Bidvest Stadium.

It is a tough game for both teams. Chippa want to fix things after their defeat in Cape Town so that they can climb the DStv Premiership log.

Meanwhile, Richards Bay want to win to stay in second place behind Mamelodi Sundowns who are in first place. In other games that were earlier this week, Sundowns gave Maritzburg United a hiding after beating it 5-0.

The good results follow the appointment of Rulani Mokwena as the head coach assisted by Steve Komphela and Manqoba Mngqithi who was demoted after Downs were eliminated by Pirates in the MTN8 Cup. Football fans are expected to enjoy other DStv Premiership matches.
