Josta Dladla, who previously played for Kaizer Chiefs, believes Nkosingiphile Ngcobo will achieve great things in the coming years. Dladla said this at a bad time for Ngcobo, who is fighting for a spot at Chiefs, who are coached by Arthur Zwane.
As young players, like Ngcobo broke through and played a prominent role under Gavin Hunt. When Stuart Baxter arrived, he stated that he did not know where he could play Ngcobo at Chiefs. Such a statement unnerved fans who are familiar with Ngcobo’s abilities.
It was not easy after Baxter left, even under Zwane, but before the DStv Premiership games were suspended last month, Ngcobo showed what he was made of when Chiefs faced Orlando Pirates.
The presence of an experienced player such as Keagan Dolly has an effect on Ngcobo, a product of the Chiefs Academy, not playing. According to Dladla, Ngcobo will soon be one of Chiefs’ most important players under Zwane.
“Ngcobo is an outstanding soccer player. He was the player who helped Chiefs when they were struggling in games last season,” said Dladla, who played for the Chiefs for six years.
“We’re not sure why he does not play. Only the coach knows, but in my opinion, he is the best player who can assist Chiefs in creating chances and scoring goals.
“He came in and played very well in the game between Chiefs and Pirates last month, even though he was not sharp due to not playing regularly. He should be given the opportunity to compete for his position so that his confidence grows,” Dladla expressed to IOL Sport.
Amakhosi will return to action at the end of the year, when they take on Golden Arrows in a DStv Premiership match at Moses Mabhida Stadium. After a sluggish start to the season, Zwane will try to close the gap between Chiefs and Sundowns that is at the top of the DStv Premiership table.
