Ginsberg fashion designers shine at first ever fashion show

Sinazo Jeje is the owner of Phawulomso Productions, a company that focuses on developing talent and skill training for young people. She said that her dream is to see Ginsberg and King William’s Town fashion designers in high places and their clothes widely known because they are beautiful and talented.

Jeje told this newspaper about their first event, which was a fashion show featuring King William’s Town designers, from which she learned a lot.

Ginsberg’s Steve Biko Centre hosted the fashion show.

Pawulomso Productions collaborated with Our Legacy in Art and Beauty, an academy that teaches children about modelling, art, and beauty.

“We were doing this event for the first time, but people surprised us by coming out in large numbers to see for themselves the clothes made by the people they grew up with, who live in the community with them, and look up to.

“There is a lot of talent here which is why I will work to ensure that these designers and models can attend SA Fashion Week and the Grahamstown National Arts Festival,” said Jeje.

She said that the main goal is to highlight the talent of Eastern Cape designers and to make their clothes known, as well as to provide opportunities to highlight their designs, which would also create employment opportunities.

Jeje said that their designs are beautiful and of high quality; the only issue is that they are unknown.

Baxu Designs, QVL Fashions, Urban Craft Designs, and Zim Collections were among the designers who participated in the fashion show at the Steve Biko Centre.

She said that the biggest challenge is still money and the locations where they sew, but that they have learned and will improve next year.
