The Department of Education in the Eastern Cape has announced the news which has put a smile on many students’ faces, that the trial exams will be translated into isiXhosa as well as Sesotho.
The Head of the Department, Mahlubandile Qwase, announced this news on August 19.
Qwase says there are six subjects that will be translated in these languages to prepare for the Grade 12 trial exams that will start next week.
“This decision has been considered and agreed upon by experts in languages such as teachers,” said Qwase.
Qwase elaborated that this initiative is aimed at promoting the use of the native languages, Sesotho, and Xhosa. “This will help in developing the education of children and teachers in schools in this province,” said Qwase.
Here are the subjects that will be written in isiXhosa and Sesotho: Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, History, Agricultural Sciences and Accounting.
