The King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality (KSD) condemns the recent crimes that have been happening in the area.
This comes after Traffic Officer, Daniel Mxoli (62) was shot dead on Sutherland Street in Mthatha town centre on Monday morning.
A report from Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said that Mxoli was doing his job when he stopped a car to check traffic fines. The car was a Tazz type car, not knowing that he is digging his own grave by doing his job.
The report goes on to say that the driver and the traffic officer went head-to-head, after which the driver went to the car and pulled out a gun and shot the officer twice, and fled.
Naidu said that an investigation has been opened by the police.
The shooting of a Traffic Officer is the second in a short period of time in this province. Last month, a woman named Sonic Smith (42) was shot dead in KwaDwesi in Gqeberha by unknown suspects while on the road.
Anyone with information about this is urged to call Colonel Tamsanqa Ntshasha on 072 102 3468 or 08600 10111, otherwise call the nearest police station, you will be safe.
KSD has condemned the incident and urges the public to cooperate with the police to arrest the perpetrators.
