While football fans prepare to watch the games of the countries that will compete in this year’s World Cup, SuperSport United’s coach is not pleased.
Gavin Hunt believes that when the DStv Premiership games resume in late December, many teams will struggle. The DStv Premiership games ended last week due to the World Cup, which will take place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18. South Africa has failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup as in previous years.
Despite the fact that Ghana’s Richard Ofori is the only DStv Premiership player competing in the World Cup, the PSL immediately suspended its own matches.
SuperSport United drew 1-1 with Swallows FC last weekend at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
“Every season has its ups and downs,” Hunt said after the game. “We have struggled as well, but we have won six of the seven games we have played,” he said.
Hunt was dissatisfied because three points would have put his team in a good position. His team is currently third in the DStv Premiership, trailing Richards Bay, which is second.
“I was disappointed with the game’s outcome because we had complete control over it. Nonetheless, our game did not come together well. Our lack of playing time has become apparent. There will be another break, and we will resume after the World Cup,” said Hunt, who joined the club at the start of the season.
SuperSport United has won six of its 12 matches. Sekhukhune United, on the other hand, fired Kaitano Tembo, who was fired by SuperSport last season, due to poor results. He leaves it in 15th place, one place ahead of Maritzburg United, who are planning to sack John Maduka due to poor results.
