Netball players are getting ready for the World Cup, which will take place in South Africa later in the year.
One of the players, 27-year-old Khanyisa Chawane, is anticipating it because it will be held in South Africa in front of her people. Chawane will participate in the world netball tournament for a second time. She was younger when she attended the one hosted by Liverpool in 2019. It is not the same now since Chawane is one of the most experienced players on the South African national netball team, and she is preparing to represent his country.
Since beginning to compete in the U-21 Netball World Cup, which was held in Botswana in 2017, she has played more than 50 times for the national team.
“After the world tournament that Botswana held, I began competing for the national team (SPAR Proteas). I had to enter the field, and I was never viewed as a rookie. My development as a player was influenced by playing with seasoned players,” Chawane stated at the camp in Australia.
To ensure that they are fully prepared to compete for the trophy when the World Cup begins in July, the national team is in a training camp in Australia where the players are receiving training and preparation. Chawane is pleased to be playing at home in front of her family and friends, despite the pressure that comes with it.
“We were so far away in 2019 that our people couldn’t see us. It’s much better now that the World Cup is in our country. The fact that our supporters will be watching us play live on the court is amazing,” said Chawane recently after Discovery’s decision to sponsor SPAR Proteas.
“I appreciate the assistance provided to netball players. Certainly, we support the women who play netball, but it’s wonderful that it’s finally getting the attention it deserves. Netball has always been neglected. Discovery’s timely intervention made us feel well-cared-for. I hope that its backing would help to grow the sport of netball,” Chawane stated.
