EB Stars coach, Victoria Martin, says she is very happy after the success achieved by her team recently.

The netball team from Mdantsane, EB Stars, swept everything in front of them in the Netball Heritage Tournament held in Mngqesha.

The teams that participated in the tournament include, Hungries, Pillars, Lenye United, Abahlobo, Kwano Greenify, Happy Hearts, EB Stars, Thembu Warriors, Young Chiefs, Blackpool, Tonardo and Young Attackers.

In the finals, Hungries beat Experience 14-11, while EB Stars beat Young Chiefs 17-7.

In the final match of the tournament, EB Stars defeated Hungries 24-8 and took home the trophy. Martin, who is one of the coaches, applauded the players, saying that they have elevated the name of the team and Mdantsane.

“I am very happy after my team won. The most pleasing thing was the way the players played the tournament despite their coach’s absence. It is good to see my children able to stand up for themselves in a tournament like this one. They did exactly what we asked of them in the games. But everything started while we were still training in practice,” said Martin.

“Their cooperation on the field is very important to us. What we admire about this team is the way they played against teams they are not used to playing with. EB Stars has been around for two years. Winning the cup means we have grown. Because we intend to be a strong team, we want to put our minds to things to grow even more. We have no tournament to look forward to yet, but our win has boosted the confidence of the players and our entire team. The good thing about the tournament is that we have discovered areas that need to be improved,” said Martin.
