Ngcobo youngster given an opportunity by TS Galaxy

Soon the people of Ngcobo will be watching their own on television playing for a football team in the DStv Premiership. This comes after TS Galaxy signed a player named Aphelele Shaka Mhlaba from Manzama village earlier this week. The Eastern Cape Premier, Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane made the announcement on his Facebook page. According to Mabuyane’s statement, Mhlaba was recruited by TS Galaxy from a centre that produces young players called the Carlos Soccer Youth Development Academy. Mhlaba is the second player chosen by TS Galaxy from the Carlos Soccer Academy.

The first one is Aphelele Teto who is in his second season as a TS Galaxy player. Mabuyane applauded the work of Eric Carlos Mtshamba, the coach and producer of the new breed of players from the Eastern Cape.

“I want to congratulate Aphelele Shaka Mhlaba from Manzana. The work done by the coach (Carlos Mtshamba) is very commendable. The main thing for him is to open opportunities for children from disadvantaged areas, especially those who are talented and want to play at a high level. The passion he has for working with the youth is amazing and the results show this,” said Mabuyane on his Facebook page.

Mabuyane, who is also from Ngcobo, asked businesspeople to help Carlos Soccer Academy. “Let us keep the youth away from the streets by giving them things they will be proud of for the rest of their lives,” he said.

It looks like the Eastern Cape is a fertile field for TS Galaxy to hunt. The good thing about Mhlaba going to TS Galaxy is that it gives young players a chance to prove themselves on the field. On Sunday, TS Galaxy will meet Richards Bay in the DStv Premiership match.
