Pupils shot after visiting their peers

The shooting and deaths of two Majali Technical High School pupils in the Siqhozameni region have shaken the Eastern Cape Department of Education. According to the Department’s report, pupils were shot near Majola Tea Plantation while returning after visiting fellow pupils who attend the same school.

The pupils who were killed are Lwakhe Maya (20) of Ngobozana in Lusikisiki and Lukhanyo Mboza (22), a native of Mcobotini in Lusikisiki.

Fundile Gade, the province’s MEC for Education, sent his condolences to the families of the pupils as well as to their peers.

Dr. Siyolise Nuku, acting head of education for the Eastern Cape, sent a delegation to pay respects at the two homes.

Nothing was taken from the pupils, according to a report from the Eastern Cape police, and they died right away.

According to the authorities, these pupils were returning from one of their peers’ residences when they were shot. According to the report, they were wounded in the upper and lower bodies and the gunfire was directed straight at them.

Lieutenant General Nomthetheli Mene, the commissioner, has issued an immediate instruction to investigate the heinous murder of the pupils.
