Riveiro optimistic even though strikers are not sharp

The coach of Orlando Pirates, José Riveiro, is sure that his team will solve their problems that cause them to be unable to win games as expected.

This is what he said after Pirates drew level with Richards Bay in the last DStv Premiership match.

If Riverio’s team were able to beat their rivals, they would be in first place without a doubt. The most obvious problem is the inability to score.

The arrival of Kermit Erasmus gave many people hope because he is a forward that can score goals, but the problem now is that he is injured.

Even though there is a noticeable struggle in the players, the coach is hopeful there will be a turnaround.

“I am an optimist. The points will come, I am sure if we can play the way we played today,” said Riverio after the match between Pirates and Richards Bay.

Pirates are seen by many people as the team that can challenge Mamelodi Sundowns who dominate South African football.

“It is not easy to win the DStv Premiership. We are still in the first half of the season and this month is going to difficult for all the teams. Our problem is not being able to convert chances into goals. This is the main reason why we cannot always get good results. We are a very good team, and we are progressing in a way that I like. This gives me a lot of hope,” said Riveiro.

The Buccaneers will try to defeat Amazulu in the DStv Premiership match which will be held at Orlando Stadium on Friday evening. Amazulu are hoping for success on their side after hiring Romain Folz to replace Brandon Truter who was shown the door by his bosses after losing to Richards Bay in the last game. Folz, who previously coached Marumo Gallants, will fight to restore Usuthu’s reputation in a very tough match in Soweto.
