The captain of the national cricket team, Temba Bavuma, said that the most important thing for him now is to ensure that the Proteas do well in the T20 International Series. South Africa played the first match against India on Wednesday in Thiruvanthpuram.
This happens when Bavuma is disappointed because he was not bought by the teams that will participate in the T20 League led by Graeme Smith. The teams were buying players last week in preparation for the start of the games to be played at the beginning of next year.
It was a surprise that the captain of the national team was not bought, but Bavuma said what is important to him now is the test matches that the team faces this week before going to the world cup.
“My mind is focused on national team stuff now,” Bavuma said ahead of the first game in India earlier this week. “I still have a role to play in the national team. I have to lead and help the national team. My mind is on the world cup right now. What is important for us now is that nothing will disturb us as we go to the T20 World Cup,” said Bavuma while speaking to the media this week.
“I want to make sure that the players go to the world cup without any distractions. I will see what happened another time. These test matches are the last before the big tournament. Now we want to try and fix all the things that are lacking in our game,” said Bavuma.
If he performs well for the national team, it could be a way to reignite the interests from the teams who did not sign him last week. It will be difficult for South Africa because India beat the England recently. “We expect a tough game when we meet India because they have very confident players,” said Bavuma.
