The case of fraud against the secretary of the ANC in the Amathole region, Thembalethu ‘Teris’ Ntuthu, as well as 17 people including businessmen and officials who worked in Mnquma Local Municipality, has been reinstated in the Mthatha High Court.
The charges relate to a 2017 corruption case where there was an alleged mismanagement of tenders worth more than R30 million in the Mnquma Local Municipality.
This case, which has been adjourned several times, was last adjourned in 2021, however it has been reinstated this year.
On Monday this week, 15 accused appeared in court. Three did not show up, Regis Masuku, Grase Tasana and Ivy Sikhulu Nqwena were issued warrants of arrest if they did not show up the next proceedings.
The case will resume at the Mthatha High Court on September 9.
