The Stellenbosch coach is itching for Chiefs!

Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker is hoping to get all three points in the weekend’s game. Kaizer Chiefs will visit Stellenbosch FC in a DStv Premiership match that will produce sparks at the Cape Town Stadium at 3pm on Sunday.

This match looks like a repeat of last month’s MTN8 match between the two teams. Amakhosi went home as the happier team after defeating Stellies in the quarter finals of this cup.

PSL management have announced that the match will be held in a large stadium after the Danie Craven Stadium was unable to absorb the large volume of Chiefs fans who insisted on entering the stadium in the previous match.

A match between Stellenbosch and Kaizer Chiefs is always on people’s lips because there is always something to talk about. Both teams go into the weekend’s game hoping for a win, especially Chiefs who are not yet in the gear that their coach, Arthur Zwane wants. Confidence is high for the Stellies players after they beat Maritzburg United by three goals earlier this week.

Now Barker’s eye is on the next game. Speaking after the last game, Barker said, “In our two games before this one, we got four points by beating Swallows and drawing against Sekhukhune United who showed that they are not a walk in the park by beating Pirates.”

“It is collecting points like this that helps us. We have a big game between us and Chiefs. They have a game on Wednesday, which gives us a chance to rest and see how they will play. The game itself will be big, I am sure. We hope that people will go to Cape Town Stadium in large numbers,” said Barker after beating the Team of Choice.

Zwane and his team are under pressure because they failed to produce positive results in this season’s matches. But playing the game at the Cape Town Stadium is good news for Chiefs because the Danie Craven Stadium is a challenge for many teams because of its small size.
