At this time on Friday, four babies killed by their mother were being buried in Tsalaba, Ngcobo. A man (25) from Thafeni viilage in Dutywa decapitated two children, his daughter and nephew, on the same day with a machete.
The victims are the man’s nephew, Luniko (9), and his daughter, Imange (7).
According to the report, the woman, who is a neighbour and a witness, went to see the mother of the house and was greeted by a pool of blood in the bedroom. When she went to investigate, she saw one child decapitated on the ground, and when she raised her head, she saw a single arm on the bed next to the nine-year-old boy, his upper body covered.
According to police, the 25-year-old suspect is not an aggressive person, but he suffers from epilepsy, and when he has an episode, he transforms into an animal.
According to Captain Siphokazi Mawisa of the Provincial Police, the suspect had an episode and became violent on Thursday last week, and his mother and family left him because they could not stand it. They left him with Imange and Luniko because he loved them so much, not knowing he would brutally murder them.
He admitted to killing the children and said he would turn himself in to the police.
When he appeared in court this week in Dutywa, the man was denied bail. He will appear in court again on December 6 to apply for bail.
The founder of the Ikhula Community Development Project, Petros Ntshele Majola, an organization that advocates for children’s rights in the Eastern Cape, expressed his shock at these events. Ikhula paid a visit to the victims’ homes on Monday.

“The homes is in pain, and I am not going to lie, my heart is bleeding,” Majola said.
The suspect matriculated from Fort Malan Senior Secondary School in 2016.
According to the report from Majola that he received at home, this man is a very good person who suffered from epilepsy after passing Grade 12 and was unable to continue his studies.
“We also don’t know what is going on, we are shocked, we are still disappointed, we don’t even know the date of the funeral,” Matikiti, a member of the family, said in a message left for I’solezwe lesiXhosa.
