The women’s football team, Thunderbirds Ladies, is expected to struggle against First Touch FC in the Hollywoodbets Super League match which will be at 3pm on Sunday.
The Thunderbirds coaches have a lot of work to do to lift the spirits of the players after being beaten in consecutive games. Before the long break, the Thunderbirds were beaten by Bloem Celtic Ladies by 1-0, while in the other match they were beaten by Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies by 4-0. The Thunderbirds are struggling in the scoring department.
It will not be easy to meet First Touch who is looking for a win. Especially after being beaten by City Lads by 2-0 in the last match. First Touch is beatable but the problem with Thunderbirds is the ineffectiveness of their forwards.
Another team from the Eastern Cape, City Lads, is slowly collecting full points. This is commendable after struggling for so long with no positive results. In the last two games, City Lads moved up the log after it defeated Vasco Da Gama and First Touch by two goals respectively.
After 22 games, City Lads have collected 18 points and are in twelfth place. When they face JHB FC next week on Wednesday, they will need another win to move further up the bottom of the table.
In other Hollywoodbets Super League games: Ma-Indies meet Bloem Celtic, Durban Ladies meet Tsunami Queens, JWV FC meet Sundowns Ladies, Golden Ladies welcome Richmond United, Coal City Wizards welcome TUT Ladies and Vasco Da Gama meet University of the Western Cape. All games will be played on Sunday.
