The Carling Black Label Cup has returned. Instead of the usual two teams, it is returning with a bang this time after making changes.

The fact that this year’s Carling Black Label will be played by four teams chosen by football fans is a plus. Soccer fans will be able to watch the biggest teams in South African soccer compete all day Saturday in the Carling Cup, which has replaced the Telkom Knockout after signing a deal with the Premier Soccer League months ago. All games will be played from 9am to 7pm at the famous FNB Stadium.

The first match, at 9am, will be between AmaZulu and Mamelodi Sundowns. This is a Carling Black Label debut for both teams. Sundowns will fight to reclaim their honour after being eliminated by Pirates in the MTN8. After being defeated 1-0 by the Buccaneers in the previous MTN8 match at Moses Mabhida Stadium last week, AmaZulu will be wary of making mistakes in the weekend game.

Winning the trophy would be a huge accomplishment for Romain Folz, who has only won one game in South Africa since arriving. Many people are looking forward to the rematch between the Pirates and the Kaizer Chiefs, which will take place at 12pm.

The game will undoubtedly be exciting because both teams have won their previous games. The Buccaneers are upbeat after defeating AmaZulu in the MTN8 final last week. And Amakhosi are upbeat after recently defeating Pirates at the FNB Stadium thanks to Yusuf Maart’s goal. Both teams have a lot on the line.

A Chiefs victory would relieve pressure on Arthur Zwane. And Pirates would be delighted with a second trophy in two weeks. Pirates will not accept being defeated by Chiefs twice, especially after winning the trophy.

For participating in the Carling Black Label, all four teams have already earned R2 million. The winner of the trophy will receive an additional R2 million, which will be shared with the fans.
