Tshabalala FC becomes first Nozulu Youth Tournament champions

Tshabalala FC clinched the Nozulu Youth Tournament cup.

Tshabalala FC was crowned the champions of the three-day tournament. This came following their 2-0 victory over Early Birds FC in the final game of the Nozulu Youth Tournament, which was played last weekend in Msobomvu, Butterworth.

The tournament, which was organised by Luxolo Matikinca, the General Manager of Sekhukhune United, piqued the interest of many people due to its excellent quality, particularly the prizes earned by the players and teams.

Both teams went into the match hoping to take home the cup, and Tshabalala and Birds played a fantastic game. Tshabalala, though, held a two-goal advantage at the game’s conclusion. As a result, they triumphed in the tournament, which featured sixteen football teams. Simpiwe Siyongwana, the coach of Tshabalala, expressed his displeasure with the tournament’s timing amid exam time in a post-match interview.

“We won as a result of our preparation. Indeed, there have been a few interruptions due to children who are still writing examinations. Other than that, everything went smoothly,” said the coach, who was pleased with the number of his players were scouted.

“These children play incredibly well. What they did in this competition did not surprise me. Due to the great calibre of our players, I would not have worked if my team had less than five players scouted,” Siyongwana remarked.

The top four teams received kits, balls, and a ton of training supplies. The winners further earned R5,000. But the 20 players (under 16) who were scouted and who will be brought to the KwaZulu-Natal training camp, where they will be trained, and then the selected players will travel to Denmark, have made many people happy. Veteran football players like Mzunani Mgwigwi and Denis Vukubi were among the scouts.
