Zikhona Makhuba (33) shared pictures of herself on social media carrying her mother on her back. She collapsed to her knees in one of the pictures while her mother was lying on her back. These pictures depict what has become a ritual for her. This young woman from Langeni A/A in Ngqeleni is appealing for help from a good samaritan to fix their road so that cars may drive up to her house to get her mother during her doctor’s appointments. Her mother’s wheelchair is too old to be pushed across the surface.

Zikhona’s mother, Khuthala Makhuba (52) can no longer walk and is in a wheelchair after being shot while driving a taxi in 2019. She had lost mobility in her legs as a result of the incident. Her daughter has appealed for assistance on social media.

According to Zikhona, her mother did not even receive a wheelchair from the hospital; it was donated to her and is old, making it difficult for her to go around. “I don’t mind carrying her on my back because she’s my mother. “What concerns me is falling since the road is bad, especially when it rains,” she explained.

Zikhona reveals that she has frequently slipped while carrying her mother on her back. “When she falls and cries, my heart hurts. She still complains about pain in her leg, so I’m not even sure if I didn’t break her,” she added.

She concluded, “I appeal for support from anyone who is willing to construct a route for us so we can push the wheelchair. Our wheelchair is already outdated. When it rains and we call a car to pick her up, it gets stuck.”
