Avocado in Africa and the world

Avocado is one of Africa’s most important fruits for social and public health. Some African farmers, including those in South Africa, make a living by selling this popular fruit. Avocado is frequently used in a variety of dishes served in restaurants and public places. Avocado production in African countries competes with that of other countries around the world. The following are Africa’s top avocado-producing countries.

1. Kenya

Kenya produces the most avocados in Africa, ranking first in the continent. According to a report, Kenya produces between 400 and 16 000 tons of avocados. It is the world’s sixth largest producer of avocados.

2. Ethiopia

Ethiopia is the second largest producer of avocados in Africa, and it is one of the world’s leading producers. Ethiopia produces between 52 and 100 tons of avocado, which is said to be of the highest quality for sale anywhere in the world. Ethiopia is the world’s twelfth largest producer of avocados. Avocado is also beneficial to the skin and can be found in hair care products.

3. Malawi

Malawi is the third-largest producer of avocados in Africa, and the 17th-largest producer in the world. Malawi produces 93 tons of avocados. According to reports, the avocado produced by African countries is the best in the world in terms of quality when compared to other countries.

4. South Africa

South Africa is the fourth largest producer of avocado in Africa, and the eighth largest producer in the world. South Africa produces 82 000 tons of avocados. Avocado production is dominated by the provinces of Limpopo and North West. Black farmers who are just getting started have begun to join the avocado industry on a national scale in an effort to change things. Previously, Black farmers had little to no information about producing products such as avocado. Avocados are planted and harvested in South Africa between March and August. According to the South African Avocado Growers Association, quality avocado production should be between six and seven.
