The biggest bodybuilding competition in the Eastern Cape is returning, and this time it will be even bigger. The O.R. Tambo Night of Champions event, which will take place at the Walter Sisulu University Hall in Mthatha on July 22, will feature male and female bodybuilders competing, flaunting their stunning physiques and ripped muscles. The event is scheduled to run from 3pm until 10pm. The event’s organisers say that because of the extremely high level of this year’s competition, Mthatha will never be the same again.
It is anticipated that the top male and female bodybuilding competitors from different provinces and countries would compete in the Eastern Cape province. Those who are eager to learn will get the chance to witness and learn about one of the sports that puts emphasis on individual well-being.
The Night of Champions will provide novice bodybuilders with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to interact with the best competitors, which will leave them feeling inspired.
“Our tournament will be bigger this year,” said the organisers in a report supplied to this newspaper. The gentlemen and ladies of the Eastern Cape want to reclaim their prestige after last year’s tournament so that their region will always be feared.
“Since last year, the tournament has expanded to R500 000 even if the prize money for the winners has remained the same. Due to its excellent calibre, our tournament is now able to draw participants from different provinces. Visitors from countries like the Seychelles, Mozambique, Namibia, Ghana, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe are among those we anticipate.
“Another benefit is that the winners here will be eligible to compete in a big tournament called Arnold Classic Africa,” said the organisers in a statement.
Chris Nguta, a bodybuilder who has previously represented South Africa internationally, will compete at the O.R. Tambo Night of Champions.
